Rigging Videos
Boot Tube Rig. In this video I did a preview of the rigging system that I created that allowed the user of the rig to manipulate the tubes on the boots in a couple of different ways. The rig system was set up by using a wire deformer and joints inside of the tube geometry. I created a CV curve with multiple control points inside of the tube geometry. Once I made this I used a wire deformer on the tube geo and CV curve to allow the tube geo to be controlled by the wire itself. Then, I created a series of individual joints that spread along the curve that was wire deformed to the tube geo. Once doing this I skinned the joints to the curve in the tube. After this, I made nurb circles for each joint as my controllers. This gave me full control over the tube geometry. In order for the tube to stretch and move with the boot as it was bending and moving around, I used parent constraints on each joint that told it to follow the top or bottom part of the boot.
Rigging Demo Reel. This is my finished demo reel. (same as home page)
**Komodo Dragon Rig. This Komodo rig is procedurally rigged and scripted with Python. I used the software program Eclipse with a PyDev plugin to script it all out. It is comprised of several pages of code, as you can see in the video. Once the code was finished in Eclipse, I used the script editor in Maya to load in the code which generated my scene with the Komodo Dragon, along with its joints, controllers, skinning, etc. The animation at the end was provided by Pavel Hrubos.
**Character Rig. I rigged this character inside of Maya from scratch. I did the skinning, painting weights, and animation controllers. I added a twisty system to the spine, legs, and arms. I also created a script that added the controllers on each finger joint and it renamed them appropriately (not shown in the video). The animation at the end was provided by Delano.
